Lynn Lane Interviewed for Metro Newspaper (NYC)

(3/2/2006) Lynn Lane was interviewed for a story on Lynn as a documentary filmmaker and this online video project that he has been doing since last year, "Docmaker on the Go". Lynn spent around 6 months bouncing around NYC from various housing projects, to parks to recording studios documenting the 4 elements of Hip-Hop. He shot everyone from Grandmaster Melle Mel to Grafitti legend Blade. He set up a bBoy (breakdancing) event at a park in Queens with Zulu Nation as well as shooting guys like Drag-On from Ruff Ryders in the studio recording his new album. It was a great time and all of it will be being released in the next few weeks under a project that Lynn did with his friend and fellow filmmaker: Javier Goin. The project is called SKILLZ DVD Magazine. The article will run in next Friday's (March 10th, 2006) Metro available here in NYC. He has always viewed this blog as a sketch where he doesn't really have to worry so much about a finished film or carrying a story for 2 hours. They are just little blurbs, kind of like doodles on a piece of paper while you are working on a larger project. He feels that it is great because one can just have fun with videoblogging and experiment with different looks and ideas without the pressure of commiting to a full length project. Lynn will be launching a new website: Vlogumentarian.com that will fully explore this idea of sketch documentary filmmaking and it will depart from the Hip-Hop arena that "Docmaker on the Go" took on.
